Follow Up on Hobby Scavenger

6 Years Later

I have recreated my previous blog post from 6 years ago titled “Hobby Limbo and The First Trip” exactly. I’ve included all grammatical errors and odd spacing choices. I’ve realized now that I have limited my emotional growth and creativity by not following through on the promises I made myself in that original post. I let the shame and the thought I would fail at everything else if I let myself have this sort of outlet take over. I recycled that Eljin dress watch to solidify my self fulfilling prophecy and I regret it immensely. Now that I’ve started midlifecrisisactivities with the purpose of creating something for myself and unlearning that shame, I’ve recreated the original blog post as a mental unblocker.

Funny Comments in The Original Post

I did continue the watch hobby and actually got 2 radio watches – the T200 grey dial Oceanus and the eventually I sold it for the Oceanus Manta OCWSS50000ME-1A. I also got roped into a mechanical watch when I bought a slot to eventually get a Anordain Model 1 Parisian Blue which I may or may not purchase in 2028. I continue to torture myself with this hobby but at least I didn’t get into fountain pens or building mechanical keyboards.

The preview of the tea post is probably me tasting a bunch of samples from Art of Tea. I don’t remember if I have a draft of that blog but I can’t find any backups. I no longer have that type of tea strainer and use a Kyusu style teapot from Hibiki An. I’ve wasted too much money looking for a easy to use and clean tea brewing device. I highly recommend this style of pot and probably a smaller one too. I also don’t buy tea from that original shop anymore and I will usually get a couple of bags from Yunnan Sourcing.

Current Teas in Rotation

  1. Wu Yi Shan “Qi Lan” Rock Oolong Tea
  2. Sweet Potato Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Black Tea

I’ve always enjoyed oolong and black teas for my daily morning tea but I will inevitably bait myself into getting a green tea or white tea that I will pretend to enjoy before going back to black tea. The rock oolong has a subtle roasted taste and thick texture. The black tea is naturally sweeter and smells like sweet potato skins.

If I could only choose one of the 2 I would pick the oolong. If you prefer to mix your tea with something like milk then the sweet potato tea oversteeped is the way to go.
